The development of Cristalmind Shirodhara is a long story. Since the year 1995, I am treating my patients partly with Shirodhara along with traditional psychiatry, psychotherapy and meditation. Observing the great results of this wonderful therapy, at the end of 1997 I had the idea of creating a device so that anyone could benefit from Shirodhara therapy easily at home or anywhere. The device had to be small, practical, portable, economical and a anyone should be able to use it without any help. First, I deposited a patent on the basic principle and looked for designers to implement the project. I lost about two years, frustrated by the designs of different designers, Italian, American or Swiss.

Two projects carried out by professional designers: not comfortable, not aesthetic, not operative.

One day, Professor Avellan professor of hydraulic at the EPFL (in Lausanne, Switzerland) to whom I was complaining about the results gave me this advice: "Do it yourself. You are the only one to know what you want".

I finally followed his advice and started a long trip with the help of technicians to reach the final results you can see now. We had to solve many problems whether for the design, the ergonomics, the power supply, the electronic control, the production which necessitate sophisticated tools.

The development to the stage of production took about 10 years and it was necessary to invest about one million Swiss francs. Yes, it is very costly and takes a long time to develop a simple, practical, easy to use, safe (12 V) and beautiful apparatus. Furthermore, it had to be able to function everywhere in the world (110-230V, 50-60 Hz). And I must say that I am proud of it as every part of this creation is the result of long meditations.

My first prototype, tinkered, allowed to test the concept. It is now part of the museum and made my cousins and friends laugh in Milan! But it worked perfectly well.

Numerous tests on several prototypes were necessary until I obtained the final result.

Initially, this apparatus was thought for laymen of all ages to be used at home, at the office or when travelling in a hotel room. Actually, many ayurvedic professionals buy it and to please them I devellopped a kit of conversion to use Cristalmind WATER with OIL I personally use only water for my patients with the best results. Clinical research shows that there is no statisant difference in the results. And using water is of course much more economical and practical.
